Bump Update: Week 32

How Far Along:: 32 weeks - we are 8 months pregnant!

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a squash!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks::
What are stretch marks, lol?

Sleep:: 9 hours is my new magic number! Sleeping deeply, with many potty breaks in between.

Fit Pregnancy::  Drinking my gallon of H20 daily, but should probably start journaling my daily eats. Maybe starting next week!

Cravings::
On Sunday I craved an orange pop so I got an individual Diet Sunkist, and it satisfied my sweet & orange craving.

Symptoms::
Remember I kept mentioning Braxton Hicks? Well, they have decreased substantially. Sure, I get them occasionally, but they are not as strong as a few weeks ago. A tidbit to share with the OB at my next appointment. Hoping that truly means that my fears of pre-term labor are a thing of the past.

Belly Button In or Out::
Neither - it is staying flat!

Movement::
She's doing well in there, moving away. Again, her movements have not been as painful as last week. Maybe there is more room!

Best Moment This Week:: Not sure if it is the "best" but Coach and I went to the hospital's prenatal class/hospital tour. Now, we had no true need to attend since we previously attended a Lamaze class and have been to the Labor & Delivery floor on two occasions. I am so glad that we previously took the Lamaze class because it was more thorough than the 4-hour hospital class, though it too was beneficial. After the class, Coach and I took Prince for a walk along the university trail and he proclaimed that he is ready for delivery, lol.

Looking Forward To:: Next OB appointment (Thursday), hair appointment on Saturday (which means we are going to Columbus), and packages arriving daily (my mother & BFF shared that a few boxes are on the way)!

Bump Watch: Week 31

How Far Along:: 31 weeks, final week of the 7th month!

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a pineapple!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: My tummy is feeling rather "tight" again so I think another growth "spurt" is quickly approaching. My parents asked me the other day how much weight I had gained; then how much baby estimates! Not sure if I was pleased with my mother's response: "That's all she weighs with your weight gain!?!" Thanks mom, lol! But, I am not seeing any stretch marks!

Sleep:: Sleep is going pretty well, besides the frequent trips to the bathroom. The other day I asked Coach to guess how many times I frequent the bathroom. His response miffed me slightly, because seemed almost oblivious to the fact that I get up so dang much! Must be nice to sleep that hard throughout the night. I am honestly contemplating keeping a tally, but then that would require more brain power when I already try to expend as little energy as possible getting myself there & back!

Exercise Fit Pregnancy::
As I mentioned in my previous post, Redefining "Fit Pregnancy," I have discontinued my CrossFit workouts but have been approved for 30 mins walking/day and resistance band exercises. I plan to share some of my resistance band exercises over the next few weeks, so be on the look-out. Also, since I am unable to workout at an intensity level that I desire, I am also trying to focus on the second aspect of being "fit," that being the foods that I consume!

Cravings::
Just ignore my last statement from above because Coach returned from his most recent recruiting trip with a box of Popeyes biscuits, and this woman did a small happy dance! We do not have a Popeyes in Athens, and I do miss the one right around the corner from our neighborhood in Toledo. Ok, my waistline is happy there is not one close by... Wait, my waistline is nonexistent anyways, lol.

Back story for the biscuits...

Two weeks ago, when admitted into the hospital, Coach was in Indianapolis recruiting... When I called him that Saturday night, he quickly packed his suitcase and jumped in the car to return to Athens. Once things had settled at the hospital, Coach announced, in a beaming way, that he HAD to go through the Popeyes drive through on his way to town! In an indulgent manner, I inquired if he had had a biscuit, which I knew he had. He laughed as I dabbed my watering mouth.... So, my loving husband figured it was only righteous to bring home Popeyes biscuits on his return from being out!

Miss Anything::
CrossFit I am doing good, lol.

Symptoms::
Braxton Hicks!

Belly Button In or Out:: Flat as a pancake!

Movement::
Her kicks, stretches, and movement are becoming ever more uncomfortable for this momma! I love the feeling and the ripples/movement of my stomach. Coach is always amazed when my stomach jumps and prods about.

Best Moment This Week:: Being released from my bed rest, hooray!

Looking Forward To:: Friday we will enter the 8th month. I am really excited but also a little anxious!

Bump Watch: Week 30

How Far Along:: 30 weeks!

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a cucumber.

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: Haven't seen any. Do you think these truly show post-birth once your skin tries to tighten back up?

Sleep:: Started sleeping more, between 9-10 hours/night. I have no reason to arise early to hit the gym, which was my main reason for being an early bird! Ha even though I despised waking up, I now miss it!

Exercise::
Taking it slow this week. I have another appointment tomorrow, Thursday, and we shall see what the doctor says. Staying off my feet, sitting on the couch, and not being active is unbelievably challenging for me!

Cravings::
A glass of wine sounds pretty divine!

Miss Anything::
I won't mention it again, but not being active! I know, I mentioned that last week!

Symptoms:: My ankles and lower leg occasionally get minimally swollen. I did not even realize it, until the doctor mentioned it to me.

Belly Button In or Out:: Still flat!

Movement::
Little Miss Kemp may come out running or doing flips! She is one active little one.

Looking Forward To:: Doctor's appointment tomorrow. Updates are sure to be shared on Friday!

Bump Watch: Week 29

How Far Along:: 29 weeks.

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of an acorn squash.

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: I believe we are still in the clear.

Sleep:: Sleeping like a log :)

Exercise:: On a short, modified exercise plan, which entails a little more rest than activity. On Saturday, I over-exerted myself by walking on the treadmill for an extended period of time, and then followed this up with a shopping spree in Columbus with my mother. You know the saying "Shop til you Drop!?1" Well, I may have followed that to the letter. I was admitted in the ER overnight Saturday for monitoring, and have been instructed to rest. Basically, all of the activity agitated my cervix, shortening it, but it seems to be ok now. Most importantly, Little Miss Kemp was fine throughout the duration of the situation. She, of course, put on a little show for the nurses/doctors!

Cravings:: My mother's arrival means some home-baked desserts. She has baked some scrumptious oatmeal raisin bars and fudge! We shared some with the OU Athletic department as well!

Miss Anything:: CrossFit SEO

Symptoms:: Nope, feeling good!

Belly Button In or Out:: Still flat!

Movement:: Yes! The last two nights I have eaten desserts, and she is going to town. It actually is way uncomfortable as it almost feels like she is pushing her back-side outward. My whole stomach is lop-sided when she does this, lol. Hoping we go back to simple kicks here soon!

Best Worst Moment of the Week::
Visit to the ER!

Bump Watch: Week 28

How Far Along:: 28 weeks. We are in the 3rd trimester, folks!

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of an eggplant.

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: I believe we are still in the clear.

Sleep:: I have been super, duper tired this past week. I believe my body is still "recovering" from all the fun of the Final Four, plus I resumed CrossFit which I did not do for a whole week.

Exercise:: Back into the swing of things at CrossFit. I have been so tired and busy with work, that I have been unable to keep up with my treadmill work-outs but know they will resume here shortly.

Cravings:: I have been yearning for KrispyKreme donuts!

Miss Anything:: KrispyKreme stores, lol.

Symptoms:: Besides exhaustion, feeling really good. I have my next OB and adjustment appointments tomorrow. I need to get a list of questions together.

Belly Button In or Out:: It's flat as a pancake!

Movement:: Last night she was going to town! But, she is pretty active on most days!

Best Worst Moment of the Week::
The Badgers losing in the National Championship Game, boo!

Looking Forward To:: My mother arrives later today (huge smile)!

Bump Watch: Week 27

Add caption
I know this is not the traditional format for my weekly photos but Coach doesn't have his computer to add the border, and the picture from the hotel room is well below average. So, you get a photo of the bump while in the hotel gym! We will return to normal bump pictures next week.

H ow Far Along:: 27 weeks; the final week in my 2nd trimester.

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a large rutabaga.

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: Think I'm in the clear.

Sleep:: I have some insomnia, and Coach's snoring makes it challenging to return to slumber but I get some good slumber in the early evening.

Exercise:: I've been frequenting The Princeton Club while we've been in Madison. I took so many various classes and loved them all. If you visit the Madison area, I highly recommend you try out The Princeton a Club or one of their Xpress locations!

Cravings:: We dined at Ian's Pizza, and I was in heaven. The mach & cheese pizza was as delicious as I remember it from back in the day.

Miss Anything:: Not being so tired!!

Symptoms:: doing good!

Belly Button In or Out:: Can flat be an option!?! My belly button is not out but not in either, instead it's just kind of flat.

Movement:: Lots of movement, Braxton Hicks and I'm on the fence on whether I've felt baby hiccups!

Best Moment of the Week:: Seeing our niece for the first time. Got some baby-caring practice in while in Madison.

Looking Forward To:: Final Four baby!

Bump Watch: Week 26

How Far Along:: 26 weeks

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a head of lettuce!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: Started using mama mio body buff. It is a really light formula, not sure if it is making a difference, but "placebos" are fine with me :)

Sleep:: Up and down. I have been waking several times in the night to use the potty and also because of insomnia - kind of over it!

 Exercise::Got back in the swing of things over the weekend with my treadmill routine, and then returned to the box on Monday! I too started jogging a little more than in previous weeks. Are you surprised given my recent article, This Momma-To-Be Can't Run?!?! I will clarify that I am doing more of a jog + walk interval than anything. But, it does feel good to be moving faster than a walk.

Cravings::After consuming 90% carbs last week, it has been a little struggle not wanting Ezekiel bread, cereal and crackers. I really like carbs, but am trying to stick my weekly meal plan for the week.

Miss Anything::Now that the weather is warmer, I am quite envious of the runners I see about town.

Symptoms:: Back relief has come. I mentioned last week about getting manipulated. This occurred on Monday, and I go back in two weeks.

Belly Button In or Out::In

Movement:: Yes! The neuromusculoskeletal doctor on Monday stated: "Wow! She moves a lot!"

Best Moment of the Week:: Seeing the doctor on Monday & getting back into my workout routine!

Looking Forward To:: Madison!

Michelyn Cynthia

Bump Watch: Week 25

How Far Along:: 25 weeks

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a cauliflower!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: If you been following for awhile then you are privy to my "secret formula!"

Sleep:: Sleeping like a log.

 Exercise::On Monday we went to the ER! I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis and pre-term labor/early contractions. I am feeling better today, and back to work but still very tired and lethargic. I am taking the remainder of the week off from the box!

Cravings::I am boring in this department though I still need to develop a list of must-haves while we are in Madison, WI.

Miss Anything::My back NOT hurting!

Symptoms:: Back aches/pain. I have made an appointment with a highly regarded OB-GYN D.O. for this coming Monday! D.O.'s specialize in OMM (osteopathic manipulative medicine), and I am hoping for whatever and all manipulations to get some back relief.

Belly Button In or Out::In

Movement:: She has been a little more on the quiet side compared to last week, but then got more active on Monday night/Tuesday morning. The constant vomiting had her excited.

Best Moment of the Week:: Coach and I attended a Lamaze Child Birth Class on Saturday and Sunday - 12 hours to be exact. Both of us would agree that it was the most well-spent 12 hours we have ever delegated to one task in a long while. If you are currently pregnant, I highly suggest that you take a Lamaze class, and I am not simply referring to the free hospital tours. Yes, we are doing that as well, but we both feel way more prepared for the birthing process as well as the first few days of baby's life!

On My Mind:: I am in disbelief that she will be arriving three months! Uhm, a person can train for a half marathon in three months! Eek - so much to do, so little time!

Looking Forward To:: My OB appointment on Thursday! While in the ER, many tests were run, even an ultra-sound. I just want to ensure all is still going ok with Little Miss Kemp. She was doing fine on Monday night, even showing off for the ultra-sound - doing flips, peek-a-boo, you name it!

Bump Watch: Week 24

How Far Along:: 24 weeks

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a cantaloupe!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: I do not believe so.

Sleep::Going good, maybe a little too well. I was able to peal myself out the bed for an early morning workout today, but more often than not, I go after work. trying to return to my early morning workout sessions so I can get more accomplished throughout the day!

 Exercise:: Going good. I am starting to see a little decrease in my strength which is a slight bummer. On Tuesday, we did split jerks. Back a few months, I was able to do 95lbs for a 2-rep max. I only did 85lbs on Tuesday. My back issues and the overall tightening feeling of my stomach has me a little more cautious, rightfully so. But, I still frequent the gym and hit the treadmill often. This momma is not complaining.

Cravings::This past weekend, I yearned for some double-stuffed oreos! Coach got me a small package and I was very happy! If we have the full-size package, I eat all the cookies in a few days! I too have been drinking more chocolate almond milk as well.

Miss Anything::Nope

Symptoms:: Back aches/pain. I have a slight case of scoliosis and honestly can't say my back pains are related to that or the pregnancy. I was walking at pretty intense incline, a level 6, but have since lessened my incline as I believe that is contributing to the back pains.

Belly Button In or Out::In

Movement:: Little Miss Kemp notifies me when it is time to eat, and then becomes even more active after all of my meals! It is so very cute!

Best Moment of the Week:: I had a massage on Friday, when I turned 24 weeks. It was glorious!

On My Mind:: Tonight's dinner, lol! I enjoy trying new recipes, what about you? Check out my weekly meal plans and try a few of the recipes!

Looking Forward To:: Selection Sunday! Did you read my post about Conference Championships! I will have an updated post about conference winners thus far tomorrow!

Bump Watch: Week 23

How Far Along:: 23 weeks

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a large mango!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks::Whenever my stomach feels dry, I apply lotion. Not sure if this will help, but in my mind it will! Also, drinking lots of water and eating fruits and vegetables!

Sleep::We're back on the snooze-mobile! On Saturday, I assisted my gym with the 2015 CrossFit Open; acting as a judge and cheerleader. After the last heat, I went to the grocery store and then home. I quickly made my way upstairs to our bed and was passed out for 4hours! I guess cheering and judging wore me out! I got a little more done on Sunday, but it surely felt glorious to snooze!

Do you spot me? Hint - I am wearing green!

Exercise:: A newly announced pregnant friend of mine sent me an inquiry about pregnancy fitness-related blogs and resources. Quickly, I sent her over a few of my favorite bloggers, but too am hoping to write-up a whole blog post about this topic. Not so much my recommendations, I am not a certified personal trainer or doctor, but various resources that I have found helpful.

I must also say that I have been very lucky to find Jolene since she has a wealth of knowledge in this area. I rely heavily on her for all my pregnancy-related CrossFit accommodations!

Cravings::Not really! The So Delicious Coconut Milk Frozen Desserts were on sale at Kroger this weekend, normally priced between $7-8, and on sale for about $3.50/pint. I bought three pints and am not impressed. I tried the Cookie Dough flavor, although sweet and cold, not really all that great! I do plan to finish the pint (smile) but will not be making another purchase in the future. I got Coach Vanilla and Mint Chip which he has enjoyed.

Thinking I will just stick to my melted chocolate + peanut butter concoction!Didn't I just say last week that I would stop buying chocolate ship morsels, lol.

Miss Anything::Nope

Symptoms:: Back aches

Belly Button In or Out::In

Movement:: Lots of movement after I eat a meal!

Best Moment of the Week::This a best/worst moment... On Tuesday, I went to the dentist! This is actually the best part of the week, ha! I LOVE having my teeth professionally cleaned. Honestly, with my whole love for the dental hygienist you'd think I would do a better job at flossing. Well, they reported that my gums were inflamed (aka pregnancy gingivitis). Just took a look at some of the pictures of those with pregnancy gingivitis, roughly 40% of women fall victim, and I do not think I had a terrible case of it. Yikes, the dental hygienist and dentist scared the living day lights out of me during my visit - talking about the risks, such as low birth weight, premature birth, etc. Now, I am on a whole new level of fear after looking at those pictures! I am partially to blame because I am not a consistent member of the "flossing club." The dental hygienist noted that she could tell the exterior and surface of my teeth were well taken for, but that I am not doing a good job flossing. I was reminded 6 months ago, when I was there last, to work on my flossing so I curled my tail between my legs and walked out!

To end on a good note, I was asked to return in another 3 months for a follow-up cleaning!

Looking Forward To::Spring Break and spring-like weather!

Bump Watch: Week 22

You are not going crazy! This post is coming a day early since we have an Ohio MBB tonight, so my readers will get two bump features in one week - so lucky! LoL

How Far Along:: 22 weeks

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a papaya!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: Lotion & Oil... Oil & Lotion :)

Sleep:: Oh my! I am hoping it was a fluke but I had the WORST night sleep on Sunday night! It all started when I consumed Pesto Zucchini Pasta with Turkey Sausage! The verdict is pretty clear that my pregnant body does not handle pesto very well! Ugh, and we are talking about home-made pesto not the store brand stuff. (If you are interested in my pesto recipe, here is the link)

After eating my dinner on Sunday, I became unusually nauseous and consumed a bowl of cereal in efforts of abating my ill-feeling stomach. When Jason returned from practice that night, he asked if I had been crying! I had not, but I explained that my stomach was not happy.

I head off to bed, and then begin tossing and turning because of stomach pains. This was accompanied by frequent trips to the bathroom - I am talking about every 1.5-2hrs! I was miserable! And besides the stomach pains, bathroom issues, my back started irritating me! Ugh! I was not a happy camper.

Jason arose around 7am and made me some ezekial toast which allowed to sleep a few hours without the above combination.

Yesterday when sharing my night horror with my mother, she reminded me of my ill feelings after conuming pesto while in Tampa. See, my pesto is good guys! I had previously made my infamous Pesto Chicken Quinoa Pasta dish for my dad when he was here in November, and he requested that I make it again when I was home. I, of course, obliged because it is so stinking easy and super delicious! And after eating it a few weeks back, my stomach was not happy either.

I guess pesto is banned from my diet for the next 18 weeks!

Exercise::Going great!

Cravings:: Smoothies. While I was in Tampa, I got two smoothies, one from Jamba Juice and the other from Smoothie King, and it has made me desire smoothies. Now, we do consume HerbaLife smoothies often, I actually was having a hard time drinking them during the first trimester but now that I had some while in FL, I want one everyday. They're not as good as the ones that someone else makes, unfortunately. Have you ever noticed that? That food items taste better when not prepared with your two hands, lol.

Miss Anything:: Not really! I am surprised that I do not miss a glass of wine, to be honest, but I haven't really desired one in a long while.

Symptoms::Feeling good

Belly Button In or Out:: Still in but starting to protrude out a little. I am thinking it's going to pop out in a few weeks.

Movement::Yes! She kicks and moves very low in my uterus, sometimes making it uncomfortable.

On My Mind: What are these Braxton Hicks I have read about?

Best Moment of the Week:: On Sunday when I realized that I was 6 months pregnant. Maybe that was the scariest moment and not the best, lol. This gig is moving quickly. Wondering if I can negotiate another 8-10 weeks after 40 weeks of pregnancy! Honestly, I planned my wedding in 13 months and that was after "unofficial planning" for about a year before the engagement. How are humans supposed to be prepared to care for another life in 10 months!

Looking Forward To:: Meeting my niece at the end of March. I know that is some time from now, but getting ever more excited to meet her as well as my our other friend's little boy in Madison!

Bump Watch: Week 21

Editorial Note: Wow! Did not realize my hair looked this crazy until just now! Yeah, this is how I typically look on a daily basis! Make-up free face and free-lance curls! I surely clean-up well, lol!

How Far Along:: 21 weeks

Size of Baby:: Little Miss Kemp is the size of a pomegranate!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: Looking good...

Sleep:: I mentioned this in yesterday's post, but I FINALLY purchased a Snoogle and am in love! I really thought I was getting some good sleep with a pillow in between my knees, but that Snoogle is a Game Changer! I have found reasons to take mid-day cat naps just so I can cuddle with my new pillow!

Exercise:: Going great! Glad to be back at CrossFit SEO. Jolene, the owner and head trainer, is out on maternity leave but she sends me daily modifications for each WOD. On Tuesday we did an EMOM with hang power cleans. Instead, I used two dumbbells, but practiced with the class using PVC pipes. I am still getting accustomed to a 'bump' as I hit myself several times with the PVC while practicing the hang power clean motion. I chuckled every time I hit my belly, and am very grateful for her personal texts of modifications while she is away on maternity leave.

All the members and coaches are very supportive while I get through WODs as well. It took me nearly double the time to complete 75 Burpees + Weighted Ball Slams (with a modification) than the majority of the class. They still cheered me on; so appreciative of my CFSEO Family!

Cravings:: Grilled Cheese sandwiches sound pretty good. The other night I had some nachos and cheese and it settled my desire for a grilled cheese sandwich for that day. Doesn't a grilled cheese sound pretty alluring especially with tomato soup, french fries, and ketchup on the side for dipping the sandwich and fries!!

Miss Anything:: Warm weather!

Symptoms:: Momnesia has been making a resurgence. I was doing really good for the first few months, only forgetting a few things. More recently, I sent a girlfriend flowers to the wrong address, luckily they arrived, and then sent another girlfriend a text 4 days later stating: "What was I supposed to text you?" I haven't left the dog anywhere or the stove on, so I am still winning!

Belly Button In or Out:: In but starting to protrude out a little.

Movement:: Yes, this week the movement is not as strong as Week 20. I asked my doctor about this and she assured me the waxing and waning of the strength is normal at this point in my pregnancy.

On My Mind:The ever-growing baby-to-do list. I have my registry pretty much done, and think I may have scheduled our birthing class, but then there are pediatrician decisions and a birth plan! Yikes, feeling slightly overwhelmed!

Best Moment of the Week:: Hearing Little Miss Kemp's heart beat at my doctor's visit on Tuesday. That sound will never get old!

Bump Watch: Week 20

How Far Along:: 20 weeks

Size of Baby:: Miss Kemp is the size of a banana! But, this tummy is looking large, and in charge - holy molly!

Gender:: Girl!

Stretch Marks:: In the clear thus far!

Sleep:: Great! Perfecting the side sleep position with a pillow in-between my knees.

Exercise:: Going great; while in Tampa I have been joining my friends at BodFit Urban Fitness Studio! Such a great workout, always varied and sure to keep you sweaty! Ty also does a fabulous job of modifying and/or providing alternative exercises for his pregnant members! In each class that I have attended there has been at least one other pregnant chick! Ha, I just scan for the bump and stand close to her!

Cravings:: Anything sweet, but that not any different than before I was pregnant. Indulging in all my healthy favorites!

Miss Anything:: My flat stomach :)

Symptoms:: Between weeks 18 and 19, I experienced bloat, discomfort and constant feelings of being stuffed. Well, I think those symptoms were foreshadowing the large amount of growth that I have experienced in the last week. I am currently 20weeks 4days and already feel much larger than the picture which was taken on Saturday.

I am happy to report that I am feeling good, again...

Belly Button In or Out:: In

Movement:: Yes! Now others can feel the kicks and movement, not just myself. :)

Looking Forward to:: Doctor's appointment next Tuesday. I just look forward to hearing her heart beat.

On My Mind:CRAZY drivers... more on that tomorrow!

Best Moment of the Week:: Trip to Tampa! All fabulous, couldn't pick just one moment!

Bump Watch: Week 19

How Far Along:: 19 weeks

Size of Baby:: Miss Kemp is the size of a mango! At my ultra-sound (US) on Monday, the technician stated that she is weighing 12 ounces! Uhm, that is quite larger than what my App says. She noted: "I think she is going to be long!" I then spoke with my sister-in-law who reassured me that all three of my nephews and niece were around 13-14 ounces at 20 week. More importantly, she did not birth giants!

Gender:: It's A Girl!

Stretch Marks:: In the clear thus far!

Sleep:: Getting better at sleeping on my side. I have yet to purchase a pregnancy pillow, using a pillow in between my legs by my knees has met my needs.

Exercise:: I have been doing more CrossFit exercises and not as many treadmill runs these days. I do frequently hop on the treadmill to read a book or peruse my favorite blogs. Have you read my book review for "A Mad, Wicked Folly?" It was the first book for my new series - Beauty Blogger Book Club!

Cravings:: On Monday night, Jason proclaimed that he is being short-handed as the spouse to a pregnant woman. He is anguishing the fact that I do not have major food cravings, lol. He tried to lure me into Dairy Queen, Insomnia Cookies, and Whit's. I was dying laughing because he does not believe he is experiencing "true pregnancy!"

Miss Anything:: Being able to run consistently, for long periods of time/distance.

Symptoms::Discomfort, bloat and always feeling stuffed. Lately, I have been feeling quite heavy, bloaty and just downright full all times of day. I have not had any issues with constipation, but my stomach feels as though it is plugged up and huge/heavy. It has been really uncomfortable.

On Monday, I mentioned this to my doctor at the gym (the appointment only consisted of the US). I really try to not ask my doctor questions when I see her at the box, well since she is there to get a workout in, not to provide medical advice. But on Saturday, I was sharing my feelings with another one of the mommy members, and she urged me to say something to my doctor when I saw her. My doctor asked about my regularity and I explained the above. I recently even Google searched diuretic foods, only to learn that I consume nearly all of the items daily/weekly except for caffeinated beverages. She urged me not to begin caffeinated beverages; and that it is just the fact that my uterus is still pretty small, the baby is growing and its just really a lot taking up valuable real estate in my stomach/uterus region. She assured me that I will begin to get accustomed to the feeling and that it may subside as my uterus grows more.

Belly Button In or Out:: In

Movement:: Yes! And, to my amazement I have been feeling movement for a number of weeks, but was not sure if it was baby movement, hallucinations, or just my uterus growing/expanding. Well, during the US, I was able to confirm that the various "things" that I have been feeling, are indeed Little Miss Kemp moving. When we first started the ultra-sound I told the tech that I believe she is more on my left side, and sure enough, this momma was right!

It was a relief to see the Little Miss Kemp moving and hear her heart beat. I wish there were more ultra-sounds, not just simple doctor visits. I mean I enjoy seeing the doctors, but I would prefer seeing my little girl on the screen! I can't believe that the next time I visually see her again will not be until around week 35! That seems like a very long time, no?

Looking Forward to:: My trip to Tampa, and adjusting the color of my hair. I know you can't discern in this photo, but my hair is red! I must confess that I chose the color, but did not realize it would be so intense.

Eek... I have a hair appointment on Thursday to correct. Now, the hair cut and the placement of the highlights are on point, so I can't blame my hairstylist, it was a bad choice in color that I chose. But, it is only hair and correctable!

On My Mind:I said I would begin investigating/reading about natural vs medicated child birth this month, February, but am not seeing that happening until March. I bought another two mommy books that I am reading this month as well as my February BBBC book, Beautiful Ruins.

Best Moment of the Week:: Ultra-sound appointment on Monday!

Bump Watch: Week 18

We take bump pictures on Sunday, when I am technically Xweeks 2days along, and my grey shirt was in the laundry basket. The grey tank will return next week!

How Far Along:: 18 weeks

Size of Baby:: Miss Kemp is the size of a sweet potato!

Gender:: It's A Girl!

Stretch Marks:: I believe we are good! Remember, I am using a combination of oils + lotions plus lots of water drinking!

Sleep:: Going good. I am making a conscientious effort to sleep on my side more, and have begun investigating various pregnancy pillows. But overall, I sleep like a rock, and only remember my 2-3 nightly bathroom visits.

Question: Which pregnancy pillow would you recommend?

Exercise::The cats out the bag - this lady truly feels pregnant when working out! I know, I've been pregnant for 5 months, but it truly hit me this week, Saturday to be exact.

Saturday's WOD was one of the infamous benchmark hero WODS, Carse. And well, it kicked me in my A*S! I scaled down the weights to 45lbs for the squat clean and 95lbs for deadlifts; I too only used a 18" box for the box jumps, but the shear mass of the workout- holy moley! My mantra was "You're pregnant; you're not out of shape! Keep moving and breathing." I honestly payed no attention to the clock as I did not want to add that pressure of a time component. There are no PRs (personal records) while pregnant. As long as I am staying active, then I am one happy camper!

Cravings:: Tomorrow I plan to compile some of my healthy eats that have been lessening my urge for crappy foods, but the other night I did have a dream about Taco Bell! I can't even remember the last time I consumed Taco Bell, but I was eating it during my dream, and then thought about it for a good portion of my day. Luckily, it is clear across town, and the thoughts of the repercussions (i.e., stomach ache) prevented me from hopping in the car and heading that way.

Miss Anything::Saturday's game was a nail biter - see the winning dunk from my MAC Mania post. Well, while the game, ok towards the end, a headache returned and I neglected to bring my peppermint oil with me. I now know that I need to travel with it in my purse; it's not called "essential" oil for nothing. I am attributing my headache to the game, but it too made me yearn for a post-game cocktail! We went out to dinner, and the restaurant only served Pepsi, which I am not a fan of, so I stuck with water; rather than splurging on a diet coke.

Symptoms:: Not only have I been deflated during my workouts, but also during work. I was really beginning to think that I would escape momnesia (aka pregnancy brain), but it hit late in my 17th week and now strong for week 18. I am a notorious note-taker, but have ramped it up lately.

Belly Button In or Out:: In

Movement:: On Sunday I was nearly certain I felt some movement, on the left side of my uterus. It was as if some part of her body was "stretching" along my insides. Not sure if it is a hallucination as I haven't been still since Sunday night when I was watching Miss Universe

Looking Forward to:: Non-pregnancy related, but I get my hair done on Saturday in Columbus! I will post a few pictures on Instagram, hope you are following me!

On My Mind: Not pregnancy-related, but more blog-related in nature. With the new year, and the fact that I do not consider myself a fashion blogger, I am wavering on my continuation of my game-day posts! I will be gone for a stretch of home games coming up, so I will mull it over, but I honestly love bargain shopping at Nordstrom Rack, TJMaxx, DSW, and the sale section of ShopBop. 95% of my attire come from those shops, and many have been purchased months ago! I have never been a person who can go shopping for one item. If I am going shopping, it is a "throw it in the bag" type of fiasco; hence my love for discounted stores. The only time bargain and/or sale becomes non-existent is when I am shopping for a new purse. I still follow the "throw it the bag" mentality but at Louis Vuitton which HAS gotten me in trouble!

So back to the A-Game Attire series... Is it even worth doing game-day attire posts if my followers can't actually go out and purchase those items today!?! Ok, there are bigger fish to fry, but just something I have been wondering about and a reason why those posts have diminished. Let me know your thoughts.

Another issue, is the fact that I have not been able to sync my getting dressed with Coach Kemp's departure time so that too has made it a little difficult.

After our game on Saturday, and a win nonetheless, a very jubilant Coach obliged for some picture taking.

Cardigan: The Other Place (local Athens store on Court Street)
Tank: Target
Pants: Nine West via TJMaxx (old); similar, similar
Boots: Gifted

Best Moment of the Week::Coach having a last-minute schedule change, and being home on Sunday, rather than out recruiting!

Bump Watch: Week 17

How Far Along:: 17 weeks

Size of Baby:: Miss Kemp is the size of an onion

Gender:: It's A Girl!

Stretch Marks:: I believe we are good!

Sleep:: 8-9 hours of sleep/night and this lady is much happier. I too am still sleeping on my stomach, I did discuss this with my OB and he said that it was ok. He stated that at the point that it is unsafe to sleep on one's stomach would be when I am truly unable to sleep on my stomach. So, in the meantime, I will continue to sleep on my side and stomach.

Exercise::I did not run as frequently this week as planned, but went to four CrossFit classes. Better intentions for the upcoming week.Thus far this week (Mon-Sun); I have been Mon, Tues, and Weds!

Cravings:: I had been craving the Vegetarian Jimmy John's sandwich, but then watched FedUp again on Friday night at the box. Coach and I previously saw the movie back in October right around the time that we started the Whole 30. Yeah welp, that movie completely deterred me from desiring the sandwich. Have you ever watched the movie? I highly recommend you watch it, whether you are pregnant, have children, or not. You will be utterly disgusted with our nation's food and drug administration's policies.

Miss Anything:: I am not feeling overly pregnant or desiring a of foods that I can't consume.

Symptoms:: I had a dull headache for about 5 days straight which has been pretty miserable. I purchased Peppermint essential oil that I have been using when I feel it returning, had some ladies comment about Tylenol. I have never been a big medicine taker which outrages my husband, Coach Kemp. He came home for lunch yesterday, Tuesday, stating that I needed to find some sort of method to cure my ailment, and he agreed with the Tylenol - per usual.

Belly Button In or Out:: In

Movement:: At my most recent doctor's visit, my OB confirmed that I would begin to feel movement between weeks 16 and 25. He then stated that I may be presently feeling movement, but simply not aware of the actual sensation. So now I am paranoid whenever I feel something in my stomach. I can't say if I am having allusions, or if it's Little Miss Kemp's movement at this point.

Looking Forward to:: Just hoping this relatively easy pregnancy continues in this fashion. Being positive from this point forward that it will!

On My Mind: Natural vs Medicated Birth. I have read three pregnancy books this month - I know C-R-A-Z-Y! I have decided that I will begin doing further investigations of this matter in February. I figure 5 months will provide ample time to decipher out a plan!

Best Moment of the Week:: Confirming Miss Kemp's newborn photos with Ann Fredricks Photography. And, hearing her heart beat at my most recent appointment - 150 bpm.

Bump Watch: Week 16

How Far Along:: 16 weeks

Size of Baby:: Miss Kemp is the size of an avocado

Gender:: It's A Girl!

Stretch Marks:: Much out there states that if you steadily gain weight you can help prevent or slow down stretch marks. I know I am not disclosing my weight gain, but my weight gain has been pretty slow and steady. I am hoping to continue in this fashion in efforts of preventing stretch marks. Genetics is also a factor in stretch marks, and my mother reports not having stretch marks after/during my birth. To aid in this process, I have continued exercising, eating healthy foods, and keep my body hydrated on the interior (water consumption) and exterior (lotions and oils).

Sleep::I am sticking to 9hrs/night.Last week when I tried to shorten my nightly slumber, I then found myself a little tired during the day and desiring a little 15-20min mid-day snoozer. I find when I get lots of nightly sleep, I do not need/yearn for a mid-day nap.

Exercise:: I am considering running outside this weekend since it has warmed up a bit; however, I am still wavering on this idea only because I frequent the ladies room so darn often. When I run on the treadmill I swear I take a potty break each mile, or around 9-10 minutes which is absurd. I am not sure if it is worth the trouble, or if I am frequenting the bathroom since it is so readily available.

Cravings:: Planning on a Vegetarian Jimmy John's sandwich on Saturday!

Miss Anything:: I am over my desires for alcohol, for now!

Symptoms:: Frequent lower back pain. Not sure if this is because I sit at my desk for long periods of time or not...

Belly Button In or Out:: In

Movement:: Not yet. I surfed the net and it states that first-time mothers feel movement between 16 and 25 weeks. Could that range be any more huge?

Looking Forward to::My trip to sunny Florida in February!

On My Mind: My next OB appointment is tomorrow, Thursday, and I have a laundry list of questions. I retract that statement a few weeks ago when I wondered what we would discuss. I hope they do not book appointments tight!

Bump Watch: Week 15

Is it Weds?! No, I know, this post is coming quite a few days behind schedule. This is week 15, and today I transitioned into week 16 but we will discuss that one next Wednesday!

How Far Along:: 15 weeks

Size of Baby:: Miss Kemp is the size of a navel orange

Gender:: It's A Girl!

Stretch Marks:: Keeping up with my lotions + oil routine.

Sleep::I have decreased sleep from 10 hours, but it is closer to 8. Next week I plan to transition back to my am workouts, so will aim for 7-8hrs each night all week.

Exercise::Returning to CrossFit SEO was challenging. My body was super achy, and I am not able to turn-over/recover as quickly. I too took a little break from running, but re-scheduled some runs for Week 16 and onward.

Cravings:: I have been really desiring the Vegetarian Jimmy John's sandwich, but haven't caved in. Maybe if I follow my upcoming run schedule, I will reward myself next Saturday!

Miss Anything::Work has been a little cray-cray, and I desperately could use a glass of wine... I have decided to add on some yoga classes instead.

Symptoms::One of the ladies at CrossFit SEO, who is due in about 6 weeks, encouraged me to drink a gallon or more of water a day. I have been following her advice, and my stomach has eased up quite a bit.

Belly Button In or Out:: In

Movement:: I purchased the Graco Prenatal Listener, but have yet to try it. It states that the heart beat can be heard late in the second trimester, so I feel like I have a few more weeks until then.

Looking Forward to::More days with my mother!

Best Moment of the Week:: Finding out the sex of Baby Kemp!

Bump Watch: Week 14

How Far Along:: 14 weeks

Size of Baby:: Baby Kemp is the size of a Lemon

Gender:: I predict "she"

Stretch Marks:: Last week, I shared that I had a recipe and that may have been an exaggeration. I do use a combination of lotion and oils; twice daily. The products I am currently using include: Earth Mama Angel Baby Stretch Oil, Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter, Weleda Wild Rose Body Oil, and Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks.

I too purchased, but have yet to use, the Mama Mio Omega Body Buff. We are quickly approaching week 15, and this belly is expanding so I will be adding it to my shower routine very shortly!

Have any other recommendations for lotions and/or oils?

Sleep:: I loved my sleep prior to pregnancy, and not sure that has really changed. I have been 'working' on decreasing my sleep to 7-8 hours/night just so I can be a little more productive.

Exercise:: CrossFit classes resumed this week and I was ever-so excited to recommence strength workouts. Also, during runs I take a few more restroom breaks than before and have been wearing my water backpack during long runs to ensure that I am not dehydrated.

Cravings:: Not one specifically. Now that the holidays are over, I am cleaning up my diet! Happy New Year's Eve!

Miss Anything:: Sushi

Symptoms:: Overly sensitive stomach. I can attest to a lactose sensitivity, but it now is on a whole different level. May consider removing all dairy from my diet, and I truly do not want to think about that reality.

Belly Button In or Out:: In

Movement:: Not yet :)

Looking Forward to:: My mother is coming for a visit next week!

Best Moment of the Week:: I am very blessed to feeling so great and very grateful!

On My Mind:: Narrowing down on the huge baby book list I have saved on Amazon. So far these are the books in my cart: Becoming a Calm Mom: How to Manage Stress and Enjoy the First Year of Motherhood; What to Expect the First Year, 2nd Edition; The Complete Breastfeeding Book: How To Make More Milk - Breastfeeding Diet, Pregnancy and Childbirth, Weaning - The Ultimate Guide For Nursing Mothers, Breast Feeding Made Simple - Limited Edition; Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth About Pregnancy and Childbirth; Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth About the First Year of Motherhood; The Diaper Diaries: The Real Poop on a New Mom's First Year; Bringing up Bebe, Bebe Day by Day; Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate With Your Baby....

Ok, so that list is overly exhaustive, and I need to sit down and divide them into a few groups as I do not need them all at this moment. I have already read and/or have: What to Expect When You're Expecting and The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy. I am thinking I now should purchase 2-3 books about the first year and breast feeding, but my list is pretty extensive.

Mommas - let me know what books you recommend!

Thanks!

Bump Watch: Week 13

Aloha from Hawaii! And, wishing you and your family a very blessed and joyful Christmas Eve!

If you missed the news... Coach Kemp and I are EXPECTING!!! Please read my Pregnancy Announcement Post!

My first bump update is going to be a little short, and to the point. I had originally written this post while traveling to Hawaii. Unfortunately, that draft did not save and now I am sitting here on Wednesday morning, Hawaii time, trying to put it together! So let's dive in, shall we.

13 Weeks on Diamond Head

How Far Along:: 13 weeks

Gender:: Unknown, although I lovingly say 'she'

Stretch Marks:: Not one! I will share my 'recipe' next week!

Sleep:: 8-10 Hours still. The time change has me all altered, and I can't seem to shake it. By 8:30-9:00pm, I am completely exhausted, and then arise around 4:00am. Luckily/unluckily, I am able to get a few more hours of Zzzs, but have been going to the gym early in the morning to give myself something to do!

Exercise::Going strong! Went on a glorious 4 mile run along Waikiki Beach, and then some cardio sessions in the hotel gym, as well. I miss my CrossFit WODs, and am looking forward to Monday, when the box re-opens!

Craving:: None really

Miss Anything:: On this trip being able to enjoy some libations, and my inability to eat seafood without reservation. I just have been avoiding it altogether, although Coach Kemp and I are frequenting a restaurant tonight, and I will have my weekly allotment of seafood!

Last night I had my first non-alcoholic beer... I have never been a beer connoisseur, so think I will just stick with water! I have not had any frilly fruity drinks either... I am not sure if I want the extra calories. I would rather has some ice cream and/or cookie!

Symptoms:: Prior to being pregnant, plane rides, especially the decent made me nauseous. Well, the decent into Hawaii was pretty brutal, but Jill Fuss, wife to one of the assistant's, made me a concoction of oils which helped me out a lot. I am glad I did a test-run to Madison last week to know that the flight would make me even more queasy, so I was prepared. But, other than that, feeling really good! Thank goodness!

Belly button in or out:: In

Movement:: Not yet, but looking forward to it.

Looking forward to:: Gender reveal on February 2nd!

On My Mind:: What on earth will I discuss during these frequent OB appointments!

Message to Baby:: Mommy and Daddy love you!

* I will not be posting and/or sharing my weight gain, Honestly, it is not something I can, nor want to, fret about at this point in my life. I am certain I will share my post-baby weight loss journey with my blog followers, but don't feel the weight gain is important.
